Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit to Walker County Criminal History, the reasons it is used, and the limited situations in which it may be shared. It also explains how search providers and linked sites handle data under their own policies. By continuing to use this website, you accept the practices stated below.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its response. We do not keep or log those search terms on our systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

When you email us, we retain the message as needed to respond. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.

Data We Gather Automatically

Our servers automatically receive certain technical details whenever a page loads:

  • Page-view timestamps
  • Your device's assigned IP address
  • Browser type and version
  • Operating system and device category
  • Pages viewed and time spent on them
  • The referring website, when available

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files placed on a device. We use them with analytics services to understand traffic patterns, popular pages, and where visits end. You can block cookies through browser settings, though doing so may change how some site functions behave.

What We Do With This Data

  • Route a search request to the selected provider
  • Maintain site availability, speed, and operation
  • Diagnose and repair technical problems
  • Measure which pages are useful or need improvement
  • Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Walker County Criminal History does not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal-record information. It publishes general directions to the Walker County Sheriff's Office, Circuit Clerk, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, and Alabama Sex Offender Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party criminal records.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy policies, not this policy, govern information submitted through those tools. Each provider controls its own retention and sharing choices, so review its terms before running a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to the Walker County Sheriff's Office, Alabama court portals, state agencies, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once you leave this website, the destination's privacy rules apply. Read them before providing personal information.

Advertising providers may use their own systems to follow activity across websites and tailor ads. We do not operate that tracking.

Who Might See Your Data

We do not sell personal information. Data may be disclosed to:

  • Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
  • Search providers processing a query you submit
  • Advertising networks serving ads on the site
  • Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order

How We Protect Your Data

We use standard safeguards for information in our control. No internet service can guarantee complete security, however, and we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.

Users Under 18

This website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such data, we will delete it promptly.

Your Data Rights

Applicable law may provide additional rights concerning personal data. Alabama's Open Records Act, Ala. Code §§ 36-12-40 and 36-12-41, governs access to qualifying public writings, while Ala. Code §§ 41-9-590 through 41-9-645 govern criminal-history record information, dissemination, and subject review or challenge. Those public-record laws do not turn this private website into a government custodian. Subject to applicable law, you may:

  • Request access to personal data we hold about you
  • Ask that inaccurate personal information be corrected
  • Seek deletion where the law permits it
  • Object to certain forms of processing where available

Updates to This Policy

We may revise this privacy policy. Any new version will appear here with an updated effective date, so visitors should review the page from time to time.

Effective date: July 15, 2026
